The End Game

T

LORD, as You walked from village to village there was never a moment when You kept hidden the truth within You. Every ear that heard Your voice took in the truth of LIFE. It was constantly being poured out for all to take in. And because You knew where the path was taking You; there was a heads-up warning shared about what was to come. (Matthew 17:22-23)

I wonder how many times You mentioned aloud the end game.  In Matthew there are several instances where You revealed how it would end. The disciples may have shrugged it off, but You kept it in plain view.
It will happen.

a leaf falls to the ground
a leaf falls to the ground, offering itself as soil for future growth

Perhaps the killing of John (the baptist) by Herod brought it “closer to home” for those surrounding You. Even though the odds were against the very principles being taken to the people in every village, it would have been difficult to accept such an end.

Downright chilling.
And yet You reminded them all of why this path has to end; to bring LIFE.

Knowing where one is going is a blessing . It gives courage, even when the path has some rugged obstacles to get through. Be strong, keep awake, take what God gives, accept and rest in it.
