Jesus knew that Peter would strive hard for what he perceived as a good and personally satisfying result. Yet what needed to be conveyed is that ‘good results’ may not be on Peter’s terms, so Jesus was direct to elucidate the matter.
To have the Holy Spirit prompt me to inquire of where an Easter Sunrise Service might be, or if one is even available was possible only because I have been seeking silence. On Good Friday He asked me to ‘be more quiet now’, to wait and listen for what He will say to me.
I could have never imagined what this day would bring!
Here at the home of a dead man Jesus is consoling Martha and asking one question, do you believe? With her statement and heartfelt acceptance Jesus could now proceed to do something impossible...make the dead un-dead.
That was it. All for this. All to be taken to the wine press and crushed until the lifeblood was extracted.
You were dead but now arise. Take your breath and come to life. Christ will bring us back to life. That is His promise.
