Come Close

C

Your Word is not one of doom.
You do not label us as malcontents slated for wrath and destruction. Your Word does not go on about how You are going to get us for this and that.
No. Your Word is a collection of letters, stories, and poems describing a Father’s love for His children.
That is your Word.

Paul of Tarsus wrote in Ephesians 2 of how we are made alive in Christ.
Not alive… but without the hope.
Not alive… but in chains that hold us captive.  Not at all!
For in Christ we are truly and fully made ALIVE!
Going deeper into this letter of encouragement from Paul, I am reminded of the little prompts that the Holy Spirit provides to my own being.  As if on cue, there is a song that plays in my spirit often and it sticks on repeat all day long and it goes:

“I have this hope as an anchor for my soul”

It is a song that pulls from the Word.  It also finds reflection here in Paul’s letter, giving a reason for the hope.  At one time we were separate from Christ, excluded from the Covenant of the promise, without hope and without God.
Yet in Christ we have this hope, this Covenant, and are brought near to God to receive peace and life.
‘Made Alive’ is a glorious TRUTH.

God’s word does not say “Go away and let Me destroy you”.
No, His word says:

“Come close to Me and I will give you LIFE”.

This LIFE will change you – it will complete you and it will set you free to be all that you were created for; hope filled and… Alive.

Amen!
